Sarah-Jane LipshitzEducational Psychologist
My career began as an educator of preadolescents and adolescents during which time I enhanced my interest and understanding of this age group. I was inspired to further my studies in psychology to gain an even better understanding. I am dedicated to helping individuals and their families navigate their way through life stressors and difficult periods of their lives. I believe that each individual has the strength and resilience needed to empower their own lives. It is wonderful watching my clients process and progress on an emotional, social, spiritual and mental level.
I obtained my Master’s degree at the University of Johannesburg and completed my Internship at Family Life Centre. Here I gained vast and rich experience in treating clients of all ages. I developed a special interest in couples & family therapy, and also completed training as a mediator. I furthermore have experience in working with ADHD, Autism and Asperger’s.
I work mostly from a client centred approach and encourage a safe therapeutic relationship space which is tailored to each client and their needs. I aim to create an environment that brings about self¬-understanding and self-acceptance. I follow an existential viewpoint where therapy is viewed as a journey that I walk step by step with my clients. Individuals are encouraged to make meaning of their suffering and live better, more fulfilled and happier lives.
I have 9 years’ experience as an Educational Psychologist and in that time, I have developed a special interest in working with anxiety, bullying, self-esteem, bereavement & loss, as well as in couples and family therapy. I am also able to provide mediation and parental guidance.
